EMPEK EMPEK KAPAL SELAM



This is one of my favorite food when I was young until I am die probably, hahahaha
It's from Palembang - is the capital city of the province of South Sumatra. I don't even go there yet but this food is so popular that is why travelled to East Java.  I learn how to cook this dishes from my mom and friends who are originally from there.  I guess I am so very lucky to have this secret recipe and I am going to share with you.

What you need  ..
  • Ikan tenggiri halus (Fish paste)
  • Telur (egg)
  • Tepung tapioka (tapioca flour)
  • minyak (oil)
  • air (water)

How to make it
  • Campur ikan tenggiri - telur - tapioka - minyak & air (mix fish paste, egg, tapioca, oil and water)
  • Uleni sampe kalis (mixed it until it's smooth and make it like a dough)
  • Masukkan kuning telur didalam adonan (insert yellow egg to the dough)
  • Kukus atau rebus adonan sampe matang (steam the dough until well done)
  • Angkat dan goreng adonan yg sudah matang (take the dough that is done and deep fry until brown)

KUAH (the sauce)
Ingredients:
  • Gula merah (brown sugar)
  • Asam jawa (tamarind)
  • Bawang putih (garlic)
  • Air (water)
  • Cabe rawit (chilli or spicy sauce) if you like
How to make it ..
  • campur semua  bumbu kuah sampe mendidih (mix all the ingredients and boil until well done)
How to serve it
  • Disajikan dengan mie kuning dan timun (served with noodle and cucumber)
